Frequently Asked Questions

What is ABA therapy?

ABA therapy is a behavior therapy approach led by a BCBA that focuses on improving social, communication, and learning skills through positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques. While commonly a therapy approached used to treat symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Embrace Behavior Services takes a behavioral pediatrics approach, focusing on the issues that are important to the family unit and for all children, regardless of diagnosis.

How can parents get involved in the therapy sessions?

Parents are encouraged to actively participate in the development of goals, intervention planning, and in therapy sessions by learning behavior strategies and techniques to support their child's progress.

What is a child life specialist?

A child life specialist is a trained professional who provides services to infants, children, youth, siblings, and families. They provide emotional, social, and developmental support to children and families by teaching coping strategies, providing normalization and ensuring developmentally appropriate education during stressful life events.

Child life specialists do not provide licensed mental health counseling or psychotherapy services. In the event where a child's and/or family's needs exceeds the scope of practice of a child life specialist, referrals are made to other qualified professionals.
